The Job Role:

1. To be responsible for and manage the day to day coordination and delivery of the OSCARS playscheme.
2. To plan and coordinate trips, outings and activities during holidays which are stimulating for the children and profitable for the charity.
3. To create and manage a play environment where young people can make choices, access a range of resources and be supported by a responsive and adaptable approach to their play.
4. To provide line management, supervision and leadership to all OSCARS staff and Casual Workers.
5. To organise staff rotas ensuring adequate supervisory cover as outlined by OFSTED requirements.
6. To ensure that the OSCARS scheme is managed effectively through the implementation of policies and procedures for provision in accordance with best practice, health and safety and safeguarding. Immediately reporting any potential problems relating to the welfare of children to the Trustees and other relevant persons.
7. To ensure that policies and procedures are kept current and up to date, and that OSCARS staff and Casual Workers are trained to these.
8. To manage the administration of the scheme including registrations, daily attendance records, invoicing, petty cash and accident/safeguarding reporting.
9. To provide overall leadership in managing and promoting positive behaviour of young people.
10. To work in partnership with and ensure effective communication with parent users, the Trustees, social services, OFSTED and the school management staff.
11. Attend Management Committee Meetings and Parent Meetings. Organise and chair regular staff meetings.
12. Contribute to the financial performance of OSCARS and liaise with Trustees in the development of yearly budget reviews.
13. To communicate with staff, parents and Trustees effectively to ensure the welfare of all young people attending the scheme.
14. Participate in self-development such as safeguarding and first aid training. Ensure all staff have been through an induction program and are encouraged to participate in further training.
15. Maintain the safety and security of the OSCARS building. Ensuring accommodation and equipment is kept in a good state of repair and report damage or maintenance required.


Candidates:

A detail-oriented, well-organised individual who takes initiative and thrives on the challenge of setting up new systems and managing an enthusiastic team of playworkers.

You have excellent interpersonal skills and are trustworthy and reliable. You’re a role model for young children and staff in the way you conduct yourself and have experience delivering group activities for children. A practical understanding of the EYFS is essential and a knowledge of OFSTED inspection requirements would be advantageous. Previous experience managing staff is key.

Qualifications and experience required:

NVQ Level 3 in Play, Childcare or equivalent or equivalent experience.
Management: 1 year (preferred)


Contract:

  • 37hrs Monday to Friday
  • Permanent
  • £12.00-£13.50 per hour
  •  Flexible schedule
