We are a Voluntary Pre-School and offer both Playgroup 2-3 year olds & Nursery Classes 3-4 year olds. We also offer breakfast, tea and holiday clubs.

Job Role:

Level 3 Early Years Practitioner – key person (Application reference: LB2)

We are currently seeking a level 3 practitioner to join our friendly team in our Pre-School as a key person in our Nursery Class.

Your duties will be to:

  • To build trusting and meaningful relationships with the child and their families
  • To work collaboratively in a small team
  • Observe, Assess & Plan for each child’s individual needs and interests to ensure they achieve positive outcomes and are school ready.


We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated person, who works well within a small team, is flexible and able to use their initiative, combining these qualities with a passion for working with children. The post would suit somebody looking to return to childcare, with children of their own.

Qualifications & Experience:

The post requires a Level 3 childcare qualification that meets the full and relevant criteria to be included in ratios. The candidate should have a clear understanding of the principals and requirements of the new EYFS and the Characteristics of Effective Learning.

Contract & Hours:

The post is part time Monday, Wednesday, Thursday 8.30 – 3.00 and Tuesday 8.30 – 1.00 which includes non-contact & 30 minute lunch breaks on full days [not paid]. A minimum of 22.5 hours per week, term time only, but there is some flexibility to fit with school drop offs and pickups, so please ask.

Permanent contract upon completion of 6 months probationary period and subject to 2 references and a DBS check.

Salary & Application:

Salary is dependent upon experience, but it will be at least the current Real Living Wage of £9.50ph irrespective of the candidate’s age.

We have a work place pension scheme, offer CPD training and there may be opportunities to take on responsibilities of small projects and initiatives.
