BAND were excited to partner with Bristol Bears Community Foundation over the October half term, to provide 2 Inclusive Sports workshops to our member settings that are funded to support SEND children. The workshops enabled staff and children to try out dodgeball, target games such as Boccia, and a seated Haka! Settings were left with booklets of games to enable them to build on the workshop in the setting.

Children’s Feedback: ‘It was really fun and active’. ‘I liked that they played music and that there were loads of different activities and that you don’t just do one.’ ‘I like the one on the matts and bouncing the ball over the heads’.

PlayLeader feedback: ‘It was really good. The kids loved it. The workshop leaders  were really friendly and they gave really clear instructions. Everyone who wanted to join in could join in. They split it up for age groups but were really flexible with the disabled children and every time I went in the kids were having a brilliant time and living their best life. ‘

Engage Circus bring along their own trapeze rig and this time focused on using silks to teach the children some circus skills.

The silks work well with children with SEND because it is softer than the trapeze bar and they lend themselves well to children being wrapped up in a cocoon, as well as to some great proprioception as the children have the chance for a swing as well!

FUNDRAISING BLOG: UnLtd, Sport relief & Spirit of 2012

UnLtd, in partnership with Sports Relief and the Spirit of 2012, has announced that young people who want to start, grow or build their social enterprise idea can apply for funding of up to £15,000.

Young people can apply for a Test it Award of up to £500 or a Build it Award of up to £15,000. Awards can be applied for by an individual or small group of up to four people aged 11-30. Test it Awards provide young people with the chance to unlock their potential and make a positive difference in the community.

The Test it Awards are available to 200 young people to run their own projects.
There is an on stage application process for Test It Awards. All applicants need to do is fill out the application which can be found at Expression Of Interest – UnLtd.

Catalyser Fund
Grants of between £30,001 and £300,000 for established organisations that support children and young people to make, learn and earn in music.

Trailblazer Fund
Grants of between £2,000 to £30,000 for organisations that support children and young people facing barriers to make, learn and earn in music.

NextGen Fund
The Youth Music NextGen Fund offers young creatives (aged 18 – 25, or 18 – 30 if they identify as Disabled) grants of up to £2,500 to make their ideas happen. We’ve launched the NextGen Fund to help emerging musicians and behind the scenes creatives take a step forward in participating and changing the music industries.

Energiser Fund
Grants of up to £120k for organisations experienced working with early years children. The Energiser Fund aims to celebrate and energise creative practice with 2-4-year-olds. Centring children’s voices, views and lived experience, the fund will explore co-design and participation in creative projects for early years.
