Would you like to be part of improving play for children?

As a playworker in the Children’s Scrapstore Play Team, your main responsibility will be delivery of weekly outreach ‘open access’ play sessions within our play ranger team.

It is a busy and varied role, with much of the work outside, all year round and in all weathers at different locations in the city.


Candidates:

  • Understanding of and the ability to develop and support health and safety in play environments.
  • Able to work alone and use initiative to problem solve as well as part of a team.
  • Awareness of child development and children’s rights.
  • Awareness of the importance of working in an anti-discriminatory way.
  • Ability to respond to changing priorities in the team and organisation.
  • Computer skills using Microsoft office.
  • Experience of utilising social media tools for promotion.
  • Practical command of English.
  • Hold a clean driving licence.

Qualifications and experience required:

  •  Experience of working with children and young people.
  •  Good knowledge of the importance of play in children’s lives.
  •  Playwork experience.
  •  Ability to plan, deliver and reflect on open ended play sessions.
  •  Good communication and interpersonal skills with children, young people, and adults.
  •  Have a working knowledge of safeguarding.

Hours, Contract & Pay:

  • Hours per week: 30 Hours a week (part time) – Monday-Friday
  • Fixed Term Contract to end July 2026
  • £22,308.00 per annum pro-rata
