Main Duties:


  1. As part of the team to support and carry out a range of activities suitable for the age/development stage of the children you have responsibility for.
  2. To support the staff in implementing The Early Years Foundation Stage and to have regard for the Statutory Framework for the Early Years Foundation Stage, also taking into consideration Every Child Matters: Change for Children.
  3. When necessary to support staff in carrying out written observations and assessments for the children.
  4. When necessary, to liaise with parents and carers to share information regarding their child’s day.
  5. Keep confidential any information regarding the children, their families or other staff which is learnt as part of the job.
  6. To effectively safeguard and protect children within the Nursery and Pre-School.
  7. To implement the Pre-School and Nursery Policies and Procedures.
  8. Undertake some domestic tasks within the Pre-School and Nursery such as cleaning equipment and preparing snacks and meals in line with Health and Safety legislation.
  9. Help prepare and fully set out the playroom before children arrive and clear away after the children and parents leave.
  10. Attend relevant meetings and training courses and Nursery/Pre-School events, as and when required.
  11. Advise Team Leaders, Deputy Manager or Nursery Manager of any matters requiring attention, i.e. concerns about a child or equipment needing repair or replacement.
  12. Look upon the setting as a “whole”, therefore offering help and support whilst constantly being aware of the needs of the children.
  13. To undertake such additional duties as may be required from time to time.
  14. To work consistently with the ethos, which is set out in the Constitution and Team Charter.

CANDIDATE QUALITIES, QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:


Essential Criteria

  1. Experience of working with children aged between birth to 5 years, including supporting the curriculum and assessment of children’s progress according to their age and developmental stage.
  2. Experience of ensuring a safe, accessible and welcoming environment.
  3. An understanding of child development and how it is nurtured through play.
  4. Ability to work as part of a team or on own initiative to create a high-quality Early Years environment.
  5. Ability to communicate effectively with children, parents, other staff and Professionals as and when required.
  6. Enthusiasm for working with children and parents.
  7. Ability to work flexibly when required.

Desirable Criteria:

  1. Childcare qualification.
  2. Child Protection training.
  3. Pediatric First Aid Certificate.
  4. Food hygiene knowledge/qualification.

HOURS, CONTRACT & PAY:


• Flexible hours each time between 8.00am – 6.00pm. Please note there is no guarantee of work each week as it is dependent on the needs of the Nursery.

• Permanent

• £11.44 p/h (unqualified rate)

• £13.20 p/h (Level 3 qualified rate)
