Autumn Training Opportunities


Domestic Abuse Awareness -19th September 2019 9.30am – 3.30pm at BAND

Come along to develop an understanding of how domestic abuse can affect children’s wellbeing & development. Have the opportunity to explore different ways to practically support parent and children affected by domestic abuse.


Female Genital Mutilation Awareness -train the trainer course. 9th October 2019 1.30pm – 5pm

In 2015 there was a legal duty imposed on all regulated professionals in relation to FGM called the Mandatory Reporting Duty. This meant that any professional who signs up to a regulatory body to in able to practice their profession would have to report to the police any known cases of FGM. This course provides delegates with the knowledge and skills to be able to deliver an awareness course back in their own settings.
This will enable practitioners:
– Know what FGM is.
– Know what the signs are.
– Know how to respond
– Know where to get further advice around the issue.


Makaton Foundation. 18th, 25th September & 2nd, 9th October 9.30am – 1.30pm

Being able to communicate is one of the most important skills we need in life.
Makaton is a language program using signs and symbols to help people to communicate. It is designed to support spoken language and the signs and symbols are used with speech, in spoken word order. With Makaton, children and adults can communicate straight away using signs and symbols.


Food Hygiene. 24th October 9.30am – 12.30pm

This is a certificated basic Food Hygiene course which will concentrate on:
• Personal hygiene.
• Prevention of contamination.
• Time / temperature control of food.
Participants will be encouraged to discuss issues relating to food handling in their setting.
