We’ve got a couple of spaces for some courses starting next week:
Children’s Resilience & Mental Health Training & Makaton Foundation Training

Children’s Resilience & Mental Health Training

Tuesday 5th March 9.30am – 2.30pm at BAND

If a child is in good mental health, they can make the most of their potential, cope with the ups and downs of life, and play a full part in their family, school, community and among friends. This course looks at how to support children in your setting.

• Considered how to define good mental health
• Discussed the crucial elements of good mental health
• Explored ways to support children’s mental health and develop their resilience

Makaton Foundation Training

Wednesday 6th, 13th, 20th, 27th March 9.30am – 1pm at The BAND Office.

Being able to communicate is one of the most important skills we need in life. Almost everything we do involves communication; everyday tasks such as learning at school, asking for food and drink, sorting out problems, making friends and having fun. These all rely on our ability to communicate with each other.
Makaton is a language program using signs and symbols to help people to communicate. It is designed to support spoken language and the signs and symbols are used with speech, in spoken word order. With Makaton, children and adults can communicate straight away using signs and symbols.
The objectives of this course are:

To provide certificated training in the practical use of Makaton for Stages 1-4, with additional vocabulary for people working with children who have learning difficulties. The aim is to provide communication opportunities for all.
