Breakfast Clubs Early Adopters Scheme

Breakfast Clubs Early Adopters Scheme

APPLY BY 20 DECEMBER 2024

Schools with primary-school-aged children can apply to become an early adopter of the government’s universal free breakfast clubs scheme. The aim is to support 750 state-funded schools to provide children with access to a breakfast club that involves free food and childcare, starting from April 2025.

If your school is selected as one of the ‘early adopters’ you will need to:

  • deliver breakfast club provision that provides healthy food, compliant with the School Food Standards
  • deliver breakfast club provision that provides at least 30 minutes of free childcare before the start of the school day
  • ensure the club is open to all children of primary-school age on roll at the school
  • provide this club free to parents and carers
  • regularly report data and take part in an evaluation of the scheme as requested

Early adopter schools will receive funding to cover the costs of food, delivery and staffing costs.

Focus of fund/fund aims:

Early adopters of the government breakfast club scheme will be funded to run a breakfast club in their school and will have the opportunity to contribute directly to the design and implementation of the scheme

Application deadline:
20 December 2024
