THE HILDEN CHARITABLE FUND SUMMER PLAY SCHEME GRANTS

Grants of between £500 and £1,500 are available to UK voluntary and community groups to help run summer play schemes for disadvantaged children.

o Application deadline: Monday 24 May 2021 at midday (12 noon).
o Funder: The Hilden Charitable Fund (founded 1963. Charity number 232591. Total value of all grants awarded during the year ended 5 April 2020: £415,900, of which £24,000 was allocated to Summer Play Schemes).
o Who can apply: UK voluntary and community groups with an annual income of less than £150,000 who are members of Social Farms and Gardens (membership is free).

The Hilden Charitable Fund provides a small annual budget to enable UK community and voluntary organisations to provide a summer play scheme for disadvantaged children aged 5 to 18 years. During the year ending 5 April 2020, the Summer Play Scheme budget was £24,000 and in the previous year it was £23,000. 20 schemes were supported last year and 19 were funded in 2019.

This year, the Hilden Charitable Fund is partnering with Social Farms and Gardens (SF&G) to provide summer activities for children.
The fund is only available to Social Farms and Gardens members. However, membership is free and available on the SF&G website.

Eligible play schemes must meet the following criteria.

1. Be a local scheme lasting for 2-6 weeks.
2. Be for children aged 5-18 years, and
3. Demonstrate strong volunteer support.

Grants of between £500 and £1,500 are available for small UK voluntary and community organisations with an annual income of under £150,000. Any costs related to the provision of a play scheme are eligible. Grants are only available for summer play schemes with a budget of under £12,000. Grants must be spent by the end of August 2021.

Some priority will be given to projects that show they are inclusive of children from refugee families and show involvement of Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic (BAME) groups.

Funding is not available for:

o Agencies with an income of over £150,000.
o Club or family holidays.
o Day-care costs.
o Individuals, or
o Play schemes with a budget of over £12,000.

Further information, guidance and details about how to apply are available on the Social Farms and Gardens website.
The deadline for applications for 2021 Summer Play Schemes is midday (12 noon) on Monday 24 May 2021.
